Merseyside Brewery Announces Closure

Top Rope Brewing, a cherished family-run brewery in Merseyside, is set to close its doors for good at the end of June. Located in the Brasenose Road Industrial Estate in Bootle, Top Rope Brewing has become a local favourite, known for its unique beers with wrestling-themed names.

Founded in 2016 by Ben Jackson, Top Rope Brewing began its journey in Jackson’s parents’ Childwall home. Initially, Ben and his then-business partner Neil Rothwell brewed their beers in the family kitchen before constructing a small brewery in the garden. The brewery later moved to North Wales for a period before settling in Bootle in 2020.

Despite its success and popularity in local pubs and bars across Merseyside, Top Rope Brewing has announced its closure with a heartfelt message on social media:

“It is with a heavy heart we announce that Top Rope Brewing will cease trading at the end of June. We’ve had an absolute blast these past eight years making some wonderfully silly beers for you all and we’ll carry those great memories with us for the rest of our lives. At risk of repeating ourselves, to be able to do this for the better part of a decade has been the privilege of a lifetime, but it’s time for us to ring the bell and move on to new things.”

The announcement follows news of another local favourite – Chapter Brewery, who announced their closure in April, marking the end of an era for two brewers who brought joy and creativity to the local beer scene.
