Liverpool’s thriving food scene is about to welcome a new Mediterranean gem. Zeus Taverna, an authentic Greek restaurant, is set to open its doors on April 3 in the heart of the city, bringing the vibrant flavours of the Aegean to Castle Street.
Taking over the former Boots store, Zeus Taverna promises an immersive Greek dining experience, inspired by the picturesque island of Santorini. With whitewashed textured walls, striking turquoise accents, and floral touches the restaurant’s design evokes the charm of a traditional taverna. A cave-style illuminated feature will further enhance the ambiance, reflecting the unique grotto-like structures found on the island.
The menu will showcase an array of Greek favourites, from tapas and small plates to signature dishes like souvlaki, moussaka, and kleftiko. Guests can also enjoy classic appetisers such as tzatziki and dolmades, alongside fresh seafood specialities including octopus, prawns, mussels, and sardines.
Beyond bringing a new culinary experience to Liverpool, Zeus Taverna is also committed to supporting the city’s hospitality industry by creating over a dozen job opportunities. The restaurant is currently recruiting for managerial, bar, floor, and service roles.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time for us. We’ve worked tirelessly to create an authentic Greek experience, ensuring that from the moment guests step inside, they feel transported to Santorini. It’s not just about great food—it’s about the atmosphere, the music, the hospitality, and the memories of holidays abroad.”
The team behind Zeus brings over a decade of experience in the restaurant industry and is eager to support Liverpool’s growing hospitality sector. “We’re proud to offer eight full-time and eight part-time positions, and we’re particularly keen to provide opportunities for young people starting out in hospitality. While experience is preferred for some roles, we’re happy to train new team members and help them build their careers.”
Zeus Taverna, located at 44 Castle Street, will host exclusive preview events on April 1-2 for invited guests before opening to the public on April 3.
