An independent Liverpool eatery has been named best in the North West and will represent the region in the national final of the Uber Eats Restaurant Awards 2023.
The Uber Eats awards span 35 towns and cities, and representing 33 different types of cuisine, the awards celebrate the best restaurants in each region and highlights the diversity of the industry. And after making the top 10 back in 2022, PICNIC on Smithdown Road will once again compete with nine other restaurants for the national title, with the overall winner set to receive £100,000 to invest in their restaurant.
PICNIC co-founder Lauren Wright said “We specialise in vegan and vegetarian dishes, focusing on convenient, fast food with added health benefits. From superfood salads and wholemeal wraps to plant-based burgers and freshly pressed juices, PICNIC gives a convenient option for those looking for a guilt-free treat.”
Earlier this year, the public nominated some of their favourite local spots across the UK and Ireland. Now, the restaurants that received the most votes in their region will be invited to a judging day in London. With a second restaurant opening in West Derby later this year, the team at PICNIC are already growing their brand to make their food accessible to even more customers.
Co-founder Sam Patterson said “We want our food to be accessible to everyone, to become a habit in our customer’s lives. Whether they choose to come and sit in with us, grab and go or have their food delivered, we’ll provide a healthy way for them to indulge.”
The final will take place in London where the PICNIC team will meet and cook for industry experts including returning judge Bake Off’s Prue Leith, Chef Monica Galetti and Uber Eats General Manager Matthew Price. The overall winner will be revealed in October.
