Lane Brewery, a beloved establishment in Liverpool’s vibrant beer scene, has reopened its doors under new ownership.
Following a tumultuous period marked by financial challenges, the brewery is poised for a fresh start, signaling a new chapter in its storied history.
Initially facing financial difficulties, the brewery entered administration in June 2022, burdened with significant debts to creditors. However, salvation came in the form of former Iceland executive Nick Canning, who injected £300,000 into the struggling company, subsequently increasing his stake after it underwent a pre-pack administration.
Despite these efforts, Love Lane Brewery faced another setback when it entered administration once more in October 2023. With Begbies Traynor overseeing the process, uncertainty loomed over the future of the Baltic Triangle-based establishment, known for its gin distillery, bar, restaurant, and events space.
Fortunately, a glimmer of hope emerged in January when Home Bargains owner TJ Morris stepped in to rescue the brand from closure. With a bold vision for the brewery’s revival, TJ Morris pledged to maintain its independent identity while also reigniting its brewing operations to supply a diverse range of clients, including the venue itself and third-party operators and retailers.
This week, Love Lane Brewery emerges from its hiatus, freshly refurbished and brimming with anticipation. As the taps flow once more and the aroma of hops fills the air, patrons can once again indulge in the distinctive brews that have made Love Lane a cornerstone of Liverpool’s beer culture.
The roots of Love Lane Brewery trace back to its inception in 2017 as H1780, a homage to Liverpool’s brewing heritage embodied by the iconic Higsons beer, first brewed in 1780.
Now, with Love Lane Brewery poised for a renaissance under new ownership, beer aficionados and locals alike flock to Love Lane Brewery to celebrate its revival. We’ll drink to that!
