Time Out has unveiled its first-ever ranking of the World’s Best Cities for Food, as rated by locals, and Liverpool has impressively secured the 11th spot.
This ranking is based on a global survey where thousands of residents rated the quality and affordability of their city’s food scene, and shared their favourite restaurants, must-try specialities, and best-value dishes.
To ensure a diverse representation, Time Out editors included only the highest-scoring city from each country. Liverpool stood out, beating notable food destinations in Spain, Portugal, and France.
The top three cities in the list are Naples, Italy; Johannesburg, South Africa; and Lima, Peru. The full top 20 cities are:

Time Out praised Liverpool’s food scene for its variety and quality. Locals highlighted the city’s blend of street food vendors and contemporary small-plate restaurants with an honourable mention for the city’s favourite dish, a good old fashioned Scouse.
