Liverpool’s ever-growing restaurant scene is set to welcome one of the UK’s most popular affordable steak concepts next year, as Flat Iron prepares to open its first Merseyside site in 2026.
The much-loved steak brand – celebrated for serving high-quality beef at accessible prices – is understood to have secured the former Point Blank site on Castle Street, marking a major milestone in its continued national expansion.
Flat Iron began as a pop-up concept born from a simple idea: that great steak shouldn’t cost the earth. The brand quickly won over London diners with its signature Flat Iron steak, a tender, flavourful cut served simply, with sides like creamed spinach, beef dripping chips, and homemade sauces.
Flat Iron’s model of simple menus, no reservations, and affordable pricing has been key to its success. Its focus on animal welfare, quality sourcing, and sustainability also resonates strongly with modern diners looking for a balance between indulgence and integrity.
Since its first opening in 2012, Flat Iron has grown into one of the most admired casual dining brands in the UK. CEO Tom Byng (also the founder of Byron Burger) is backed by investment groups McWin Capital Partners and TriSpan, and the company operates 18 restaurants across the UK, including multiple sites in London, as well as regional locations in Manchester, Cambridge, Leeds, and Cardiff.
Flat Iron’s move into Liverpool reflects the brand’s growing focus on regional city-centre sites that combine history, architecture, and a strong hospitality culture. The upcoming restaurant will join an impressive line-up of recent arrivals and independent favourites that have helped establish Castle Street as one of Liverpool’s premier food destinations.
