Summer Fun Continues at Royal Albert Dock Liverpool with ‘Festival of Summer’

After kicking off the season with a vibrant weekend of Pride celebrations, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool is keeping the summer vibes alive throughout August with its ‘Festival of Summer’. This exciting event offers a new music, food, and drink festival, family-friendly activities, and plenty of Instagram-worthy selfie spots—all set against the backdrop of Liverpool’s iconic waterfront.

At the heart of the festivities is Soundbites, the dock’s latest festival that highlights some of Liverpool’s top musical talents. Alongside live performances, visitors can enjoy al fresco dining and drinks from the dock’s cafes, restaurants, and bars. The Soundbites festival will run from Saturday 24th to Monday 26th August, coinciding with the bank holiday weekend.

Saturday’s headliner is CASINO, Liverpool’s soulful indie five-piece band, who have recently toured with The Zutons and performed at several major summer festivals. Their modern take on northern soul and funk promises to be the perfect soundtrack for a summer Saturday.

Sunday brings a special guest to the dock—the Disco Turtle. This festival favourite, which made waves at Glastonbury 2024, is an 8-meter long, 3-meter high illuminated spectacle with a wingspan of 5.5 meters. Complete with a DJ booth on its back, the Disco Turtle is a must-see attraction on bank holiday Sunday. Catch the Turtle and its DJ spinning uplifting disco classics at 2-2:30pm, 5-6pm, and 8-8:30pm.

Visitors seeking summer refreshments will be spoiled for choice, with the dock’s restaurants and bars offering expanded menus as part of Soundbites. Expect a range of light bites, cocktails, and street food to satisfy your cravings.

As August comes to a close, the dock will host ‘The Last Days of Summer,’ a new, free family festival in partnership with Liverpool BID Company on Saturday 31st August from 11am-5pm. This festival will take place across four key waterfront areas, each offering unique entertainment, including live music at the Latin Corner with Revolucion de Cuba, tote bag printing with The Nest, and performances from Dizzie Brascals, a roaming five-piece brass band playing funky tunes.

Whether you’re looking to enjoy live music, dine by the water, or snap a memorable selfie with the Disco Turtle, the Festival of Summer is set to transform the waterfront into Liverpool’s go-to destination this August.
