A brand-new afternoon tea experience is set to launch in Liverpool, offering a unique twist on a beloved tradition by celebrating the city’s rich cultural heritage.
Voyagers Restaurant & Bar, located in the historic Ropewalks District, is introducing Liverpool’s first themed afternoon tea, featuring a selection of locally inspired savouries and sweets that pay homage to the city’s food traditions and iconic influences.
On the savoury side, diners can enjoy a Scouse-inspired sausage roll with beetroot ketchup—a tribute to Liverpool’s famous stew. The menu also includes finger sandwiches filled with Mrs Kirkham’s Cheese and red onion chutney, smoked salmon and cream cheese open sandwiches on Baltic Bakehouse focaccia, and a salt & pepper chicken brioche bun. Freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and jam bring a classic touch to the experience.
For dessert, the menu offers a delightful selection of Liverpool-themed treats, including:
- Liverpool Tart – a zesty take on a treacle tart, a favourite among Voyagers diners.
- Strawberry Fields Macaron – a tribute to The Beatles, offering a sweet and colourful nod to the city’s musical legends.
- Everton Mint Chocolate Tart – a rich chocolate ganache infused with the iconic peppermint flavour of the traditional Everton Mint.
- Docker’s Cake – a hearty, spiced fruit cake once enjoyed by Liverpool’s dock workers as a filling energy boost during long shifts on the waterfront.
Head Chef Jake Parry shared his excitement for the new menu, stating:
“Liverpool is a city full of culture, character, and culinary heritage, and we wanted to create an afternoon tea that truly reflects that. Every dish tells a story—whether inspired by our famous local flavours or the city’s rich history. We’re thrilled to share this unique experience with both locals and visitors.”
The Liverpool Afternoon Tea is priced at £32.50 per person, including unlimited hot beverages from locally sourced Crosby Coffee and Brew Tea Co. Guests can upgrade their experience with a glass of prosecco for £36.50 per person, or indulge with a glass of Taittinger Champagne for £42.50 per person.
Launching on Saturday 29 March, the themed afternoon tea will be available throughout the year, served Wednesday to Sunday from 12pm to 5pm.
