Fiesta of Fire Launches at Royal Albert Dock

This February, visitors to Royal Albert Dock Liverpool can light up their 2023 with the dock’s brand new campaign, Fiesta of Fire. Taking place across three weekends from 4-19th February with some additional elements for Valentine’s Day and half-term, Fiesta of Fire will brighten up the dark winter nights offering a lineup of free, family-friendly entertainment complete with breath-taking fire acts, performances and a thrilling spectacle of fire and light.

Kicking off the festivities with an eventful weekend of fire themed activities by Bring the Fire Project on 4th & 5th February, the dock will come to life with a roster of captivating choreographed fire acts, including flaming sword fights, huge martial arts style rope darts, a fire umbrella, and much more.

Additionally on the Saturday, spectators can marvel at a giant, three-meter high fire breathing dragon, accompanied by sinister hooded stewards, as it roams around the dock by the Martin Luther King Jr. Building and along Hartley Quay. Set to illuminate the darkening sky with roaring flames, children and adults alike will be left in awe by the dazzling performance.

On the following weekend, the 11th & 12th February, the dock will be the place to go for some spectacular early Valentine’s celebrations. A variety of mesmerising fire performances and acts will set pulses racing, before visitors can enjoy a waterfront cocktail or meal at one of the dock bars and restaurants. Or for those heading to the dock on Valentine’s Day itself, look out a roaming cupid character complete with dazzling fire wings.

Those looking to warm up with a dockside dinner can choose from a selection of cuisines from some of Liverpool’s best restaurants. Whether it’s to tuck into a freshly baked Calabrese wood-fired pizza at Rudy’s topped with spicy ‘nduja sausage, some fragrant and fiery Drunken Noodles at Rosa’s Thai, or to sip on a flaming Zombie cocktail at Revolucion de Cuba, there’s a huge selection of dishes and drinks to tantalise tastebuds.

Offering the ideal free activity during half-term to keep little ones entertained, on Thursday 16th February, families can catch performances from a series of walkabout fire acts including fire juggling and fire breathing to name a few.
Visitors can make a day of it and enjoy the dock’s free cultural offering at Tate Liverpool and the Maritime Museum, with activities including Explore and Draw complete with drawing challenges at Tate, and Music for the Classes which offers an interactive activity all about the music passengers would have listened to while on board the RMS Titanic, at the Maritime Museum.

The flame-throwing finale of the Fiesta of Fire celebrations will take place on Saturday 18th February, with a variety of spectacular fire performances taking place around the dock estate from 3-6pm. Going out with a bang, visitors can enjoy a mixture of breath-taking acts including multi-flame dragon staffs, fire hoops and special effect flames and pyrotechnics.

With its exciting line up of free, family-friendly activity and diverse food, drink and cultural offering, the dock is the perfect place to warm up this winter with a trip to Liverpool’s waterfront.
