Work is officially underway on what’s set to be the North West’s most enchanting festive experience – Santa’s Secret Forest – a dazzling 40-acre woodland transformation coming to Orrell Hill Woods, Hightown this Christmas.
Created by Sidestep Events Ltd, part of the award-winning UK Events Group, this immersive Christmas attraction promises to blend cutting-edge technology, theatrical storytelling, and the nostalgic magic of Christmases past to create a one-of-a-kind adventure for families across the UK.

It’s not just a light trail — it’s an adventure into the very soul of Christmas.”
At the heart of the experience is Santa’s Christmas Hub — a 2,700 sqm interactive walkthrough featuring 10 incredible themed rooms. Visitors will journey through Santa’s world in an hour-long festive adventure, from the Grand Lobby where magical guestbooks come to life, to the Toy Workshop where elves prepare gifts for Christmas Eve. Other highlights include:
- The Tinsel Town Express: climb aboard a storybook train carriage filled with festive music and twinkling scenery.
- Santa’s Sleigh Garage: help the elves get Santa’s sleigh flight-ready in time for Christmas.
- North Pole Command: peek into the high-tech hub that keeps Christmas on track.
- The Time Tunnel: travel through decades of Christmas nostalgia, with magical scenes inspired by classic grottos of the past.
- The Magic Elevator: take flight from Santa’s Secret Forest straight to the snowy skies of the North Pole for a breathtaking finale.
No Christmas experience would be complete without a feast of festive flavours and Merrywood Market is set to deliver. Mulled wine, hot chocolate, and other winter warmers will be on offer as families take in the glow of over two million multi-coloured lights sparkling through the trees. Visitors can also enjoy:
- Yorkshire pudding wraps loaded with all the trimmings
- German bratwurst sizzling over open flames
- Stone-baked pizzas and juicy burgers
- Freshly baked brownies, toasted marshmallows, and more
Beyond the main trail and immersive hub, families can add even more sparkle to their visit with optional extras, including:
