Independent bar concept Behind Closed Doors is set to open its third site next month, bringing its signature mix of debauched cocktails, retro styling and late-night funk to Liverpool’s Colquitt Street.
Founded by Nick Parr, former general manager of Manchester institution The Whiskey Jar, Behind Closed Doors first opened in 2017, hidden away behind an unmarked doorway at 93 Oldham Street, Manchester. The brand expanded to Leeds in August 2024, and the new Liverpool venue marks the next chapter in its growing portfolio.
The 150-capacity bar will combine the concept’s trademark eccentricities – including vintage phone lines to connect guests between tables and a DJ booth constructed from trolleys – with a uniquely Liverpool energy. Guests can expect an all-night soundtrack of boogie, soul and upbeat funk, alongside a menu of creative cocktails served in an atmospheric, dimly-lit setting.
Designed with group celebrations in mind, the venue features a mix of intimate and large-scale party spaces: cosy booths for 4–6 guests, the Disco Room for 10–20, and the lavish Mayfair Suite for 20–30.
“We feel Liverpool has been ready for our concept for years now, but we just needed to find the right venue.” said founder Nick Parr. “Behind Closed Doors is a very exciting, mysterious speakeasy-style bar with the best boogie, funk and soul music to keep the party going all night long.”
Behind Closed Doors Liverpool will open its doors later this year.
