Popular independent Liverpool eatery PICNIC have grown their brand to make healthy food accessible to even more customers with a new site in West Derby.
The business took to social media to announce details of their new venture.
“FINALLY! PICNIC number two is located in the heart of West Derby Village! We have been on mission ‘shop number two’ for the last year; exploring every potential site available in Liverpool and beyond. But something kept calling us back to West Derby. Our target with this new venture is to re-create what we fell in love with at our Smithdown store; a neighbourhood establishment that provides healthier fast food to sit in, take away and be delivered. Fast, good value for money and good for you! We love seeing the same faces come through the door – day in, day out, so our plans, after a lot of feedback and research are to expand to the North!”
Having first launched as a healthy food delivery service by founders Lauren and Sam back in 2017, The brand gained popularity with locals following residencies in Liverpool’s Baltic Market and Grand Central Food Bazaar.
Their first permanent restaurant opened on Smithdown Road in 2019 and the brand has become a firm favourite with customers, having represented the North West as regional finalists in the national Uber Eats’ Restaurant Awards 2022 and 2023.
“We are aware Smithdown is working at max capacity at peak times so our target is to increase availability on delivery & take away and reduce current wait times by 30-40%, as the shops are situated close enough to share the demand! We are super excited to be adding to what West Derby Village already has to offer, and we hope to see you soon for a coffee or sit in meal with friends or a PICNIC to take to the park!”
PICNIC specialises in vegan and vegetarian dishes, focusing on convenient, fast food with added health benefits. From superfood salads and wholemeal wraps to plant-based burgers and freshly pressed juices, PICNIC gives a convenient option for those looking for a guilt-free treat.
Speaking about his vision for the brand, PICNIC Co-founder Sam Patterson recently said “Our customers describe us as ‘the beautiful inbetween’ – a place where they can indulge their fast-food craving without the guilt! We want our food to be accessible to everyone, to become a habit in our customer’s lives. Whether they choose to come and sit in with us, grab and go or have their food delivered, we’ll provide a healthy way for them to indulge.”
Sustainability is also a key focus for PICNIC. All ingredients are ethically sourced, 80% of the menu is vegetarian or vegan and all takeaway packaging is biodegradable or compostable. Doing the right thing by the planet is important, as co-founder Lauren Wright says:
“Our goal has always been to build a sustainable business committed to offering healthier alternatives to traditional fast food. We want to provide convenient, fast food that is better for you, and better for the environment. To provide our customers with delicious, healthy choices for food on the go.”
Picnic West Derby is now available on all major delivery platforms, and will be open for customers to dine in from November 17th.
