Wendy’s to Open a Drive-Thru in Liverpool

Wendy’s – the third most popular quick-service restaurant chain in the US – is set to expand its footprint in the UK with the launch of a drive-thru site in Merseyside this spring.

With approximately 30 existing locations in the UK, the brand is eyeing a new spot at the Academy Business Park near Liverpool, as revealed by Wendy’s UK & Europe managing director Michael Clarke during an interview with Propel which highlighted the brand’s strategic focus on drive-thru establishments, aiming for a 50-50 split between drive-thrus and in-line stores, with drive-thrus consistently surpassing sales records upon opening.

The iconic American fast-food chain, made its triumphant return to the UK market in 2021 after a two-decade absence, delighting fans with its square-shaped burgers and signature Frosty desserts.

Boasting a menu of freshly prepared offerings, Wendy’s aims to carve out a niche in the competitive UK fast-food scene with its emphasis on quality ingredients and made-to-order meal with a focus on convenience, value, and customer satisfaction.

Wendy’s first Merseyside site is located within the foodcourt of Gravity Max in Liverpool One, with some referring to it as a “secret store” due to the fact the location does not appear on the Wendy’s UK website.

Wendy’s has quickly gained traction among UK consumers seeking flavourful alternatives to traditional fast-food fare. Its expansion plans signal a bold resurgence for the brand in the British culinary landscape.
