Local Chef Eddie Kilty Nominated for Prestigious Industry Award

Local Chef Eddie Kilty – Founder of Kilty & Co – has been nominated for the prestigious title of ‘Hospitality Hero’ at this year’s The Staff Canteen Awards for his work in support of the industry.

Kilty & Co was founded by Eddie Kilty in 2018 and when he’s not catering events, Eddie can usually be found somewhere in the Med sourcing local produce to cook for guests in some of Europe’s most beautiful private villas. A rising star in the world of food, Eddie previously headed up the AA Rosette kitchen at The Inn on the Lake as well as working for a host of Michelin starred chefs including Tom Kerridge, Andrew Pern and Emily Watkins.

Eddie has always been keen to give back to the industry which has provided him with so many opportunities over the years.

“I run a Charity called The Collective Dinner which is organised by myself each year. We host it in a college and it gives budding superstars the opportunity to cook and work alongside some of the industry’s most talented chefs, while also raising money for some great causes.”

Over the last 12 years, The Staff Canteen has built what has become the go-to platform for chefs and hospitality professionals providing support for younger chefs, mental health, tips and industry knowledge, as well as recipes and videos from some of the biggest names in the industry.

The Staff Canteen Awards were launched in 2020 to recognise those who go above and beyond to support the industry, with categories including Chef of the Year, Sustainable Business of the Year and Front of House Team of the Year.

Eddie plans to run his events to support the industry annually, having already raise money for good causes including hospitality mental health ambassadors So Let’s Talk.

“This year we raised over £5k for Sepsis UK, a charity which is close to my own heart – and we also did the staff canteen takeover on Instagram with this year’s event which was amazing! I want to continue running these events each year as my own way of giving something back to the community through the colleges where most of us began our careers.”

The shortlist will be published on October 17th and award winners will be announced on November 13th at a live ceremony in Birmingham. You can cast your vote for Eddie Kilty HERE.
