Liverpool entrepreneurs Philip Olivier and Joshua Boyd are set to open a one-of-a-kind restaurant, bar, and event space on December 9th. Their project, the “Daffodil,” brings a new life to the former Mersey Ferry, MV Royal Daffodil, following a remarkable £3.5 million transformation. Permanently docked at Liverpool’s historic Canning Dock, the Daffodil is poised to become a unique waterfront attraction.
The main deck will host the restaurant, featuring modern British cuisine rooted in tradition, while the Promenade bar on the upper deck offers cocktails, Champagne, wine, and beer alongside an all-day menu of small plates and light bites.
With Olivier’s expertise in sightseeing tours and Boyd’s background in festivals and events, they’ve designed Daffodil to capture Liverpool’s maritime charm and provide an unparalleled dining and social experience.
Boyd shared his excitement, stating, “We’ve poured our hearts into restoring this iconic vessel and can’t wait to introduce it to the people of Liverpool and visitors from around the world.”
Olivier expressed his pride in the project: “Daffodil is not just another venue; it’s an iconic piece of Merseyside’s history reborn for a modern audience.”
Plans for a mini-museum exhibit, the Wheelhouse, are also in the works, aiming to celebrate the history of the Mersey Ferries—pending final funding. With its historical roots and modern appeal, the Daffodil is set to become a beloved addition to Liverpool’s vibrant waterfront scene.
