Top Rope Brewing, a beloved family-run brewery known for its unique wrestling-themed beers, has been rescued from the brink of closure.
The brewery, located on Lipton Close in Bootle’s Brasenose Road Industrial Estate, had announced plans to cease operations at the end of June. In a turn of events, Top Rope Brewing has now partnered with Legends Whisky, allowing it to continue operations.
A statement on June 28th from the brewery’s social media account on X (formerly Twitter) confirmed the partnership.
“We’re delighted to announce that we have entered into a partnership with Legends Whisky which will not only allow Top Rope to continue to trade, but also provide us with the support required to increase our output and distribution.
Ben will continue to brew Top Rope beers at the existing brewery in Bootle to continue supplying our existing customers while also exploring exciting new opportunities made possible by this partnership.
We’re beyond thrilled to announce this news, closing the brewery was one of the hardest choices we ever had to make and seeing the massive outpouring of support from fans and customers makes us feel so happy that we get to carry on brewing beer which has had such a positive impact on so many people.
We’ll hopefully see some of you tomorrow for what was supposed to be our final taproom, although it may be our last one for a little while as we figure a few things out, taprooms will definitely be back!
See you at the (taproom) bar!”
Top Rope Brewing was founded in 2016 by Ben Jackson, who started the operation in his parents’ home in Childwall. The brewery quickly gained a following for its innovative beers and vibrant community presence. However, financial challenges had recently forced the brewery to consider shutting down. With this new partnership, Top Rope Brewing will continue its legacy of creating distinctive and beloved craft beers.
