Calling all coffee enthusiasts! Mark your calendars for April 27th and 28th as Liverpool prepares to host its first-ever Coffee Festival, promising a weekend of caffeinated delights and exploration for aficionados and novices alike.
Crafted to cater to the burgeoning coffee culture of the city and beyond, the festival offers a blend of experiences tailored to both industry insiders and those who simply relish a good cup of joe. Attendees can look forward to a diverse program featuring talks, tastings, and interactive sessions led by coffee importers, roasters, and brewers.
Highlights include iced coffee gelato, and collaboration beers infused with coffee, adding a unique twist to the traditional festival fare. For those eager to refine their palate, cupping sessions provide an opportunity to hone tasting skills and discern nuances in flavour like a seasoned professional. Additionally, expert-led demonstrations will unveil the secrets to achieving barista-quality pour-over coffee from the comfort of home.
The brainchild of Peter Hunter, from Botanical Garden and Sub Rosa bars in the Baltic, and Katy McGrath from Crosby Coffee, the Liverpool Coffee Festival was born out of a shared passion and vision for celebrating the city’s vibrant coffee community.
Beyond indulging in coffee’s sensory pleasures, the festival serves as a platform for education and awareness. Peter and Katy are committed to shedding light on the global journey of coffee, from bean to cup, emphasizing the importance of supporting sustainable practices and fair-trade initiatives.
Set against the backdrop of Mill Yard on Kings Dock Street, adjacent to Black Lodge Brewery in the Baltic, the festival invites guests of all ages, including children and furry friends, to partake in this immersive celebration of coffee culture. From its tantalizing offerings to its commitment to sustainability, the Liverpool Coffee Festival promises to awaken the senses and ignite a newfound appreciation for the humble bean.
