Situated in the vibrant heart of Liverpool, nestled between Duke Street and Hanover Street, acclaimed Italian restaurant Amalia has been delighting patrons with its authentic cuisine and tempting them with its legendary calzone challenge for an impressive decade.
And now fans of the much-loved Italian will be delighted to hear they are opening another venue in the city centre.
Boasting a dedicated following of loyal customers, the restaurant has garnered numerous accolades, including multiple Liverpool Lifestyle Awards, two Liverpool Food and Drink Festival awards, The Positive Award, and Antonio’s prestigious title of Chef Of The Year at the National Italian Awards in 2018.
As Amalia celebrates its successful 10-year journey, owners Miguel Queipo and Antonio Lixi are embarking on an exciting new venture. In the upcoming year, the dynamic duo will be unveiling Amalia Cicchetti, a tapas-styled restaurant situated just a stone’s throw away from the original location, conveniently across the road.
Bringing a taste of Italy to Liverpool, Amalia Cicchetti, named after the Italian word for small, promises guests an array of snack-sized plates featuring delectable sandwiches, pizzas, cakes, and deli delights. Miguel, who originally hails from Spain, ventured to England in 2007 to pursue business studies. His partnership with Antonio flourished during their tenure at an Italian restaurant in York, where Antonio served as the chef and Miguel as the manager.
The team will continue to serve their award-winning pizzas but downsized to accommodate the new concept of Cicchetti. They will have bread baked fresh daily, and a patisserie and the new site will also encompass a traditional wine bar, selling bottles of important wines from all over the world.
Amalia marked their inaugural foray into the world of business, setting the stage for their continued success and now Amalia Cicchetti looks set to captivate Liverpool’s culinary scene with its enticing array of small bites and the same passion for excellence that defines its predecessor.
