A Magical Winter Wonderland Awaits at Royal Albert Dock

There’s nothing better than wrapping up warm and taking a stroll round The Albert Dock’s Christmas lights to give you all the festive feels, and this winter they’re gearing up to enchant visitors with a host of festive experiences, including the much-anticipated return of its dazzling light trail, seasonal treats, and unique gift offerings.

Adding to the excitement is the brand-new Christmas Courtyard, promising a snowy, picture-perfect setting to elevate the holiday spirit.Located in the dock’s Anchor Courtyard, the Christmas Courtyard will be open on selected dates from December 5–30. Visitors can stroll through beautifully adorned giant Christmas hearts into a secret market square filled with festive cheer. The courtyard features four bespoke Scandinavian-style market stalls and six traditional wooden cabins, offering everything from seasonal food and drink to handcrafted gifts. To heighten the magical atmosphere, 10-minute snowfalls will happen every hour, creating a truly Instagram-worthy setting.

Foodies can indulge in seasonal delights like Nutella hot chocolate from Francie’s Focaccia & Coffee, nachos paired with cranberry mulled wine from Madre, or a winter-inspired Dark & Stormy from Bar Glue. For those with a sweet tooth, Revolución de Cuba offers festive treats sure to satisfy.

Shoppers will find plenty to browse, with unique gifts available at Nature’s Treasure, featuring Christmas crystals, and Bodhi’s Pup-up by The Nest, perfect for furry friends. Visitors can also enjoy the Makers Market, showcasing North West artisans offering homemade cakes, street food, artisan spirits, and children’s books.

To complete the experience, the courtyard is festooned with illuminated Christmas trees, twinkling lights, and cozy outdoor seating, ideal for soaking up the festive atmosphere. For a broader adventure, visitors can embark on the Dock’s Light Trail, a family-friendly activity that lights up the historic Colonnades with festive characters and nautical-themed installations.

The dock’s restaurants also deliver a feast of festive flavours. Savor Middle Eastern-inspired turkey shawarma at Maray or indulge in Caribbean-inspired pulled Cajun turkey at Revolución de Cuba. For a traditional twist, Gusto offers classic roasts with all the trimmings.

Round off the experience by shopping for gifts at Lost Soles, House of Spells, or Roly’s Fudge, and enjoy the cultural offerings of The Beatles Story and Merseyside Maritime Museum. For an overnight staycation, nearby hotels like Holiday Inn Express and Premier Inn provide the perfect base.
