A Brand New Bakehouse for the Baltic

Gary Usher, the renowned local baker and restaurateur behind Elite Bistros and Usher’s Bakehouse in Hoole, Chester, is bringing his beloved bakery to Liverpool’s vibrant Baltic Triangle.

A new branch of Usher’s Bakehouse will open its doors on Wednesday, 20 August 2025, at the former site of Baltic Bakehouse on Bridgewater Street.

Chef Usher was inspired by his Grandfather Gordon who opened his own bakery in Harpenden back in 1968. Also behind the new bakehouse is pastry chef Nathan Brockbank, boasting Michelin-starred experience and a background as executive pastry chef for Manchester City FC.

Patrons can look forward to the same crowd-pleasers from Chester, including focaccia, sourdough, rye, and a selection of pastries and sweet treats. Opening hours will be Wednesday through Sunday, from 8am to 3pm on weekdays, and until 1pm on weekends.

Gary Usher shared his excitement, saying, “We’re super excited to be expanding the bakery. We’ve built something really special in Chester and we can’t wait to bring it to more people.”
